The Self-Directed Community
The Charleston Area Ornish Connection - Self-Directed Community is an extension of the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for the Reversal of Heart Disease. Once participants graduate from the program at CAMC in Charleston, they can transition into the SDC where they continue living the lifestyle to which they were introduced at CAMC. They receive on-going support from all members of the SDC, in all disciplines of the program.


Mission of the SDC
Our mission is to foster the Ornish Lifestyle, where excellent health is practiced through dedication to the principles of good nutrition, physical exercise, mental hygiene and emotional support.

Purpose of the SDC
Our purpose is to create a self-sustaining and self-directed community that provides a connection with persons interested in the Ornish Program's lifestyle and serves as a support to members and families who have elected to live by this healthy lifestyle.

SDC Meeting Times
The SDC meets every Thursday except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

ChasOC eMail Community - Instructions to gain access
Our eMail connection provides a private virtual group environment for all who wish to participate. You must become a certified member to belong. Certification is obtained via the group moderator who is an officer of the SDC. Requirements are simply that you must be a member of the Charleston Area Ornish Connection - Self Directed Community.
